Butler County 18-Year-Old Injured Trying to Elude Law Enforcement

A Butler County 18-year-old was injured after crashing his car while trying to elude law enforcement.

The Iowa State Patrol says the incident occurred just before 10 am Monday morning. Wyatt Mitchell of Allison was driving a Volkswagen Beetle eastbound on Highway 3, actively eluding law enforcement, when he entered Waverly for an indeterminate reason.

The crash report indicates Mitchell made an abrupt steering maneuver in the roadway and the vehicle entered the ditch, vaulted and rolled, ejecting him from the car. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Mitchell was transported by Waverly Ambulance to Waverly Health Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The Waverly Police Department and Bremer County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.
