As Anticipated, Parking Fines Going Up in Charles City
Parking fines in Charles City are set to increase.
During their regular meeting Monday night, the City Council approved the third and final reading of an ordinance to upping the fines that will be assessed for parking violations.
City Administrator Steve Diers told the Council the normal parking violations were subject to a $5 fine as recently as 2015 and have been $15 since.
Violators who park in handicap spaces without the proper disability identification will also be looking at a stiffer penalty.
Parking fines for violations of the City snow ordinance will also increase from $25 to $50 after the Council approved amending the ordinance Monday night.
