Past, Future ARPA Expenditures Reviewed By Floyd County Supervisors

Past and future spending of County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds were discussed during Monday’s regular meeting of the Floyd County Board of Supervisors.

While no official action was taken, the consensus of Supervisors is to use ARPA money to purchase new vehicles for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, one of which Lieutenant Deputy Travis Bartz told the Board is finally ready for delivery, almost.

While that vehicle is being built this month, Bartz said it could be June before it arrives and is in service. Final cost is expected around $52,000.  

With the lengthy turnaround to get vehicles, Bartz and Sheriff Jeff Crooks also lobbied for getting another two vehicles ordered now because waiting another year is expected to add about $6,000 to each vehicle. 

County Auditor Gloria Carr also updated Supervisors on County ARPA expenditures from April 1, 2022, through March 31, 2023.

For the 12 month period ending March 31st, the County obligated over $1.3 million in ARPA funds with almost $890,000 actually paid during that period. The County received just over $3 million total in ARPA funds which must be earmarked for specific expenses by the end of 2024 and be spent by the end of 2026.
