Trial Delayed for Nashua Man Charged with Child Sex Abuse, New Prosecutor Assigned

The trial for a Nashua man accused of sexually abusing two minors is being delayed again, with the latest continuance due to a change in the prosecutor for the case.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Ethan Vorhes last August after he was accused of sexually abusing two children, both under the age of 15 at the time. The incidents were alleged to have occurred on multiple occasions from 2018 to 2022, including the showing of pornography by Vorhes to one of the victims.

Charges against Vorhes include two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts each of third-degree sexual abuse and lascivious acts with a child, all felonies; two counts of indecent contact with a child; plus indecent exposure and exhibiting obscene material to a minor. Vorhes has pleaded not guilty and was scheduled for his trial to begin May 2nd in Floyd County District Court.

However, last Friday, Assistant County Attorney Randy Tilton filed a motion that the Floyd County Attorney’s office had determined that a conflict of interest exists in the case. Thus, a special prosecutor was requested to be assigned, which a judge approved with the naming of Butler County Attorney David Kuehner to take over.

Monday, Kuehner filed for a continuance because he would be involved with a jury trial in Hardin County which would conflict with the May 2nd trial date for Vorhes. That motion has been granted and the Vorhes trial has been reset for June 13th.
