New Hampton High School Coaches Add, Shed Duties

The New Hampton High School baseball team officially opens their season Wednesday (05.15) night by hosting Clear Lake for a 7 pm first pitch. (Coverage starts at 6:40 pm on 95.1 The Bull.)
Starting July 1st, Chickasaws’ baseball coach Cory McDonald will officially open the 2024-25 school year as the school’s Activities Director. He says the timing was right to seek that role after he opted not to seek re-election last November to the New Hampton City Council.
In February, current Chickasaws’ AD Scott Frerichs announced he would be stepping aside at the end of this school year to step back into the classroom full-time.Â
Frerichs freed up more time when he announced in April that he’d also step down as New Hampton head football coach after 31 years, including a state title in 1999.
Longtime assistant coach Chad Pemble has been tabbed to take over as Chickasaws head coach starting with the 2024 season.
When McDonald takes over as AD, the 2024-25 school year will be New Hampton’s last year in the Northeast Iowa Conference before joining the Upper Iowa Conference starting with the ’25-26 school year.
