Northeast Iowa Man Accused of Continuous Sex Abuse of a Child

A northeast Iowa man has been accused of sexually abusing a child over the course of about 18 months.

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old Richard Bush II of Plainfield turned himself in on an arrest warrant Thursday. He is charged with continuous sex abuse of a child, a Class B felony, which has a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaints, the victim told authorities she was sexually assaulted by the defendant around the time of August, 2022 in the basement of their residence in Plainfield. She detailed accounts of three or more acts of sexual abuse by the defendant over a period of approximately one and a half years. During the time of abuse the victim was under 14 years of age. 

Bush is being held in the Bremer County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
