Charles City Aeronautics Now Under New Ownership

Charles City Aeronautics is now under new ownership.

Based in Charles City and doing business as North Iowa Air Service in Mason City and Charles City, plus Central Iowa Air Service in Ames, Bill Kile has sold the company to his son, Todd Kile, making him the third generation to take over operations.

Founded in 1957 by Lyle Kyle and Norbert Baltes in Charles City, the company expanded as North Iowa Air Service at the Mason City Municipal Airport in 2001. In 2017, expansion continued with the addition of Central Iowa Air Service at the Ames Municipal Airport. Today, over three dozen employees staff the three locations to provide daily air charter, flight instruction and maintenance.

Bill Kyle says “My son Todd has spent his life in the company and has built the flight and charter departments to what they are today. I am immensely proud of him, and excited for how the company will grow under his leadership.”

Todd Kile says, “I am excited to expand on the legacy that my father and grandfather have built here in Iowa. Aviation in Iowa is continuing to grow, and we want Charles City Aeronautics to be at the forefront of that growth.”

As a result of this sale, a new Charles City Aeronautics Board of Directors has been elected. Bill Kyle will transition to Chairman of the Board/Director of Maintenance, with Todd Kyle to serve as President/Chief Pilot. Christopher Schrodt will become Vice-President/Director of Operations, and Nicole Kyle will be Corporate Secretary/Director of Marketing.
