Central Springs, Clarksville Punch Tickets to State Softball Tournament

For the ninth straight season, Central Springs is headed to the Iowa Girls High School State Softball Tournament, with Clarksville also punching their ticket.

Tuesday night, Central Springs and Waterloo Columbus Catholic completed their game that was suspended Monday night due to weather, with Central Springs getting the 6-0 shutout win. The third-ranked Panthers improved to 25-5 for the season. 14th-rated Columbus finishes 26-12.

Central Springs will open play in Class 2A state tournament field next Tuesday (July 18) as the number three seed and will face West Monona, the six seed with a 29-6 record.

Central Springs finished third last year.

Clarksville made the Class 1A state softball tournament with a 12-2 win over Saint Ansgar in the Region 6 title game Monday night.  

The 28-1, 7th-ranked Indians will open state tourney play Tuesday (July 18) as the number 6 seed and face 3rd-ranked and third-seeded Southeast Warren with a record of 25-6.

Saint Ansgar closed their season Monday night at 23-12.
