11 Search Warrants, 16 Arrests in Northeast Iowa on Drug Charges

In a span of about 10 days, law enforcement has arrested 16 people on various drug charges in Fayette County.

The latest arrests by the West Union Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office come after a search warrant was executed Wednesday (07.19) on the premises of Family Dollar/Dollar Tree in West Union. It was the 11th search warrant in just over a week stemming from a joint investigation into a northeast Iowa drug ring.

Authorities say the entire store, along with two vehicles on the property,  were searched with marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash located and seized. Three people were arrested on drug trafficking and possession charges including 39-year-old Angela Becker of Strawberry Point, 28-year-old Collin Sorg of Fayette, and 35-year-old Krystal Fox of Sumner.

West Union Police Chief Paul Becthold said, “We take drugs in our community very seriously. We have and will continue to work diligently on keeping our community safe from dangerous drugs and dangerous people. I would like to personally extend a thank you to all the agencies that have lent us a hand in this continuing investigation.”

Fayette County law enforcement began their initial onset of search warrants July 11th, leading to six subjects being arrested.  A July 14th search of a West Union apartment complex resulted in seven people being taken into custody.
