Central Springs Third, Clarksville 4th at Girls State Softball Tournament

For the second year in a row, Central Springs has taken third place at the Iowa Girls High School State Softball Tournament.

The Panthers needed just five innings to beat Interstate 35 10-0 in the Class 2A third place game Friday afternoon in Fort Dodge.  Cooper Klaashen pitched a one-hit shutout while Abby Pate and Sharli Fessler each homered and drove in two. Aurora Stapleton, Lizzy Hamand and Zaila Dahlstrom also had two RBIs apiece as Central Springs finished the season 27-6.

In the Class 1A third place game, Clarksville lost to Wayne 7-2 Friday night in Fort Dodge. The Indians were in the game until late trailing 3-2 going to the sixth inning, but in the bottom of the frame, Wayne scored four runs to put things out of reach.

Rachel Borchardt and Paige Kampan each drove in one run as Clarksville suffered only their third loss of the season, finishing 29-3 overall.
