The Purple Heart Tour (PHT) will host a four-person best shot golf tournament this Saturday in Charles City.
PHT’s Neil Keifer says the fundraiser event helps pay to provide hunting opportunities in Iowa to active duty and retired special forces troops from all over the country.
Veteran Jared Reeser from Mississippi retired after 26 years of service, including tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He came to Iowa to hunt on behalf of PHT and found it therapeutic as he battled cancer.
The PHT tournament is slated for a 10 am shotgun start Saturday at the Wildwood municipal golf course in Charles City. Contact the clubhouse to sign up.
Outdoor related raffle prizes, including a special engraved gun, will also be auctioned off. Holes for the tournament can be sponsored for $100 a hole, with 100% of the profits going to the troops involved in the PHT hunts.
