Charles City Police Host National Night Out Tuesday (08.01)

To promote positive police-community partnerships, the Charles City Police Department invites the public to National Night Out from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (08.01) night in Central Park,

Police Chief Hugh Anderson says the event offers a great opportunity for citizens and officers to get to know each other in a relaxed environment.

Everything at the Charles City National Night out is free, including a meal of hot dogs, chips and water. There will also be bouncy toys, face painting, water ball with the Charles City Fire Department, the Hy-Vee Health Trailer, and the distribution of free backpacks with school supplies sponsored by Zoetis and the Salvation Army.

Unfortunately, Anderson says the MercyOne Air Med helicopter will not be making a fly-in appearance because of their commitment to another event.

However, Trooper Tom Williams, with the Mason City District office of the Iowa State Patrol, says they will have a special display.

Similar Night Out events are being hosted Tuesday night by the Waverly, Decorah, and Mason City police departments.
