Charles City NIACC Center Now Operating Out of Temporary Location at Union House

The Charles City NIACC Center is now operating out of a temporary location downtown.

Construction of the new NIACC Career Academy in Charles City means adding onto the existing building, just east of Hy-Vee.  The project started in April and after four months of working on the site, the NIACC Center had to cease operating out of their regular facility and relocate into temporary offices.

That’s NIACC President Dr. Steve Schulz, who says construction of the new career academy has been meeting all times thus far, thanks in part to the largely dry summer weather.

Completion of construction is targeted by March of next year, although courses in health, information technology, construction trades and advanced manufacturing won’t be available to area high school students until August of 2024.

In addition to Charles City, the Career Academy partnership also includes the Clarksville, Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler, Osage, Riceville and Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school districts.

Wendy Coen-Ward, director of the Charles City NIACC Center, said the first course conducted in their Union House offices was a yoga class on Monday night (07.31.).
