Minnesota Fugitive Apprehended in North Iowa Also Faces Local Assault Charge

A man wanted for assault in Minnesota, who was arrested last week in north Iowa, also faces a local assault charge.

Last Wednesday (08.02), Nora Springs Police and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant in Nora Springs on 38-year-old Nathaniel Fritz. According to court documents, Fritz is accused of assaulting a female victim multiple times between June 28th and July 2nd, including impeding her breathing and throwing a screwdriver that hit her in the head. The woman also told authorities the assaults have continued after that weekend.

When Fritz refused to cooperate with local law enforcement last week, the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team and negotiators were called to assist in apprehending Fritz. After about a four-hour standoff, Frits was arrested and he’s now held in the Floyd County Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond.

Fritz is also wanted on a domestic assault charge in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, and had been on the run since May. Minnesota court records also show Fritz has a long criminal history dating back to at least 2004, including convictions for theft, forgery, taking possession of stolen property, assault, disorderly conduct, making terroristic threats, harassment/stalking, drug possession, and assaulting correctional staff.
