Area County Fair Queens Vie for State Crown
The Iowa State Fair Queen will be crowned this weekend in Des Moines.
Charles City senior-to-be and Floyd County Fair Queen Josette Benning says there’s plenty of work to do before the top tiara and sash are handed out.
Delaney Ruzicka represented Floyd County last year at the State Queen contest. She told KCHA/KCZE at last month’s Floyd County Fair that there are contrasts in styles among the queen candidates.
Other County Fair Queens competing this week in Des Moines include Tori Bearman of Chickasaw County, Ava Ferrie of Howard County, Brooklyn Wix of Butler County, and Anna Egan of Fayette County, who set a new Fayette County Fair pie auction record this year when her triple berry pie sold for $13,550. Â
Also vying for the State Fair Queen crown is Katelyn Huebsch of Osage, representing Mitchell County, which boasts the reigning Iowa State Fair Queen, Mary Ann Fox, also of Osage.Â
