The old playground equipment was removed from New Hampton’s Runion Park in late June. New equipment for the new Kindness Square Inclusive Playground arrived last week.
New Hampton Park-Rec Director Tara Hackman says installation is still about two weeks away.
Hackman says concrete work continues on the west side for parking and work on new restrooms will begin soon.
Kayla Brown is involved with the project and says her kids with special needs are getting anxious to play on the new playground equipment. It’s also emotional for her, especially being able to witness the park’s transformation from her view at MercyOne Medical Center.
Brown adds that donations are still being accepted to add some more amenities to the park.
Hackman says the project is still expected to be finished by October.
