Repairs, Larger Kindergarten Classes at New Hampton Elementary School

There’s an expansion of sorts going on inside New Hampton Elementary School while repair work is being done on the exterior.

The School Board recently approved an extra $45,000 to cover repairs to the building Superintendent Jay Jurrens says was constructed in 1939.

Total cost for the repairs are estimated at about $150,000.

Inside New Hampton Elementary, more kindergarteners will be attending classes this year thanks to a surge in enrollment, which Jurrens says meant hiring another kindergarten teacher for a fourth kindergarten class.

The school district dealt with a similar surge in enrollment in recent years which meant the addition of another second grade class.
