Monday (08.28) First Day for City, School Board Candidate Filings

Monday (08.28)is the first day candidates can file to run for city council and school board elections this fall.

Both the Charles City and New Hampton City Councils will have three spots up for vote on November 7th. In Charles City, the Council seats of Keith Starr, Phoebe Pittman and Phillip Knighten are up for election. In New Hampton, the seats of Councilmen Cory McDonald, Jason Speltz and Joe Denner will be on the ballot in November.  Also up for election is the office of New Hampton Mayor, currently held by Bobby Schwickerath. 

The Charles City and New Hampton school boards will have two positions each on the November 7th ballot. In Charles City, the seats of Pat Rottinghaus and Janiece Bergland will be up for vote. In New Hampton, the school board posts of Jay Matthews and Nate Schwickerath will be up for election.

The deadline for candidates to file nomination papers is 5 pm September 21st.
