Floyd Interchange Becoming More “Concrete”

Construction of the new west/northbound lanes of the Highway 218/18/27/Avenue of the Saints interchange at Floyd continues to progress ahead of schedule.

Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District Office of the Iowa DOT says the project is becoming “more concrete” as crews prepare to pour the bridge deck.

Construction of the Floyd interchange will take a hiatus for the upcoming Labor Day Weekend, which Hjelmstad says is usually the normal practice for most DOT road projects.

Work on the new west/northbound lanes is expected to continue into November. During the construction, traffic is in a head-to-head pattern on those new east/southbound lanes, which were completed last year.
