Former VP Pence Visits Northeast Iowa, Talks Carbon Pipelines

Former Vice President and current GOP Presidential candidate Mike Pence made campaign stops in several northeast Iowa cities on Tuesday (09.12).

Pence held a Chickasaw County meet-and-greet at Klunder’s Kafe in New Hampton. He tells KCHA/KCZE News, as long as landowners’ rights are not infringed, he sees underground carbon capture pipelines as a critical part of the nation’s energy security.

The Homeland Energy Solutions ethanol plant in rural Chickasaw County is targeted to be the easternmost starting point for Summit Carbon Solutions’ proposed pipeline, which would also be built through Floyd County, if approved.

On Monday (09.11), Pence held a Town Hall session at the Valero Renewables ethanol plant west of Charles City, which has partnered with the Navigator CO2 Ventures proposed carbon pipeline.

Pence also made stops Tuesday in Decorah, Waukon, Waverly and Waterloo.
