New Hampton has taken over the top spot for sportsmanship in the Northeast Iowa Conference.
During Monday (09.18) night’s September meeting, the New Hampton School Board heard from Superintendent Jay Jurrens, who said the Iowa High School Athletic Association has put an emphasis on good sportsmanship over the last year and the Chickasaws have responded.
Jurrens said improving their sportsmanship has been a process.
Jurrens says they’ll continue to stress good sportsmanship to the students because they want them at school sporting events rooting for the Chickasaws rather than against their opponent.
