Fundraiser to Help Carly’s Fight Continue in Florida

It was over two years ago that Charles City’s Carly Stevenson collapsed due to blood clots in her lungs.

After doctors initially feared Carly wouldn’t survive, it’s been a long recovery since. Her mom, Michelle Stevenson, says Carly continues to make strides to rebound, however, the family is looking for help from an experimental medical treatment program in Boca Raton, Florida, to speed up the process.

Stevenson says that since the medical treatment is not FDA-approved, it’s also not insurance-approved. So, they’ve begun a fundraising campaign to help defray those costs.

Stevenson says the family has to have the down payment on the first shot to even get on the books for the procedure in Florida, which they hope to do by this December.

Donations can be made through Carly’s Fight on Facebook or at First Citizens Bank in Charles City.

Stevenson says Carly’s goal is still to go to college and become an occupational therapist.
