A north Iowa man is dead after his golf cart was struck by a motorcycle.
The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred shortly before 3:30 pm Sunday (10.01) afternoon about three miles north of Hampton. 84-year-old Robert Irwin of Hampton was westbound in a golf cart on 170th Street and, after stopping at the intersection with U.S. Highway 65, started crossing the road when he was hit by a motorcycle operated by 54-year-old Corey Spear, also of Hampton.
The collision in the northbound lane of Highway 65 (just west of the Hampton Country Club) killed Irwin and injured Spear, who was taken to Franklin General Hospital in Hampton for treatment.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin General EMS, and E&E Repair assisted at the scene.
