Plans Continue to Take Shape for Resurfacing of Main Street in Charles City

Plans continue to be formalized for the resurfacing of Main Street in Charles City next summer.
City Administrator Steve Diers says the project calls for milling out about five inches of concrete to repave the street from the Floyd County Courthouse to the intersection with North Grand Avenue.
Diers says curb and gutters will be replaced/repaired as needed while also making updates for ADA compliance.
Diers says the consensus of City officials is to replace the decorative brick along Main Street.
Diers adds that the project could take up to three months to complete, but work will be done in phases so the entire street is not shut down all at once.Â
The last time Main Street in Charles City saw significant work was in 2000.
Citizens are invited to learn more about the project during an informational open house from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday (10.03) at Charles City City Hall.
