Charles City High School Bond Referendum Committee Hosts Info Sessions

The Charles City School District continues to ramp up promotion of a $28.5 million bond referendum to revitalize Charles City High School.Â
If approved on November 7th, a third of the $28.5 million would go towards a new 800-seat performing arts auditorium, with other funds going to upgrades and facility improvements to a school building that hasn’t had any major work done to it since it was built 63 years ago.
Mayor Dean Andrews is on the committee helping to explain the bond to voters in a series of community question and answer sessions.
Andrews says they’re primary purpose is getting out accurate information.
Andrews will give a bond referendum presentation Friday (10.06) at 11 am at the Charles City Senior Center.
Additional community sessions are currently scheduled for 6:30 pm Monday (10.09) at Prologue Books, 5:15 pm Wednesday (10.11) at Tellurian Brewing and 9 to 11 am on October 19th at Aroma’s. That same night at 6:30 pm, the school district will host a bond information meeting in the High School Cafeteria featuring the architects for the revitalization project.Â
Andrews says the committee welcomes the opportunity to speak to any group or organization wanting to know more about the bond referendum, which will require a 60% majority YES vote to pass.
