Monday (10.23) Last Day to Request Mailing Absentee Ballots

Monday (10.23) is the last day to request your County Auditor’s office to mail you an absentee ballot in advance of November’s general election.

Chickasaw County Elections Deputy Gina Fangman says voters can still come into auditors’ offices to vote in-person absentee up through Monday, November 6th. She also adds that you must be registered to vote first, which can be done as late as Election Day itself.

Ballots on Election Day can only be cast at your assigned voting precinct.

Chickasaw County Auditor Sheila Shekelton also reminds voters that state law also requires you to show proper identification prior to getting your ballot.

Acceptable forms of ID include your Iowa drivers license (not expired more than 90 days), Iowa non-operator ID, U.S. military or veteran ID, Iowa voter identification card, Iowa student ID, employer issued card, U.S. passport, out-of-state drivers license, out-of-state non-operator ID, or tribal ID card.

All absentee ballots must be returned to your County Auditor’s office no later than 8 pm on November 7th. Any ballot received after that will not be counted.

Polls November 7th will be open from 7 am to 8 pm.
