Connie Schuster, 73, Rockford

Connie Schuster, 73, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Carma Hillman officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday.

Connie Lee (Demaray) Schuster, the daughter of Leighton and Catherine (Nordman) Demaray, was born on October 16, 1950, in Charles City. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1968 and then LaJames College in Mason City. Connie worked at her first shop as a beautician in Northwood, then at Golden Touch in Charles City. She also worked part time with Terry’s Catering. Until her retirement in December 2022, Connie split her time working at her own salon, Connie’s Country Shop, and at the salon in Rockford where she rented space from Sherry Fischer.

Connie was united in marriage to Gene Schuster on August 16, 1969, at the Methodist Church in Rudd. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rockford. Connie loved to bake, tend to her flower garden, and loved going shoe shopping.

Living family members include her husband, Gene; son, Adam (Jen) Schuster; son, Andy (Dawn) Schuster; grandchildren: Kabriel Schuster and Casey (Monty) Dye; great-grandchild, Scarlett Dye; siblings: Pam Dight, Debbie Hufft, Kim (Jerry) McDowell, and Mike (Julie) Demaray; sister-in-law, Joan Schuknecht; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Steven and Jay.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Floyd County Medical Center for their wonderful care with Connie.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
