North Iowa Man Dies After Semi Hits Concrete Mixer

A north Iowa man is dead after a collision between a semi and concrete mixer.
The Iowa State Patrol says a semi tractor-trailer driven by 27-year-old Shane Stanton of Philadelphia, Mississippi, was driving south on Birch Avenue in West Bend and a concrete mixer driven by 29-year-old Taylor Chance of Burt, was eastbound on 110th Street. The State Patrol says Stanton failed to yield the right of way and crashed with Chance around 5 pm Wednesday (11.08).
Chance was killed in the collision. Stanton was injured and flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.
Sheriff’s offices from Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties, plus Gilmore Fire/EMS, Humboldt County EMS, Bode Fire/EMS, Ottosen Fire, and Lentz Funeral Home also assisted with the crash, which remains under investigation. Â
