Winning Bid for Phase 3 Construction of New Hampton Tribe Trail A Pleasant Surprise

The winning bid for the construction of Phase 3 of New Hampton’s Tribe Trail is a pleasant surprise for City officials.

That’s Mayor Bobby Schwickerath, who says the City Council awarded the contract during their regular meeting Monday (11.06) to Wicks Construction of Decorah for just over $575,000. Pre-bid estimates put construction cost at about $730,000.

Phase 3 will connect the trail from Linn Avenue on the south side of New Hampton with the Chickasaw Wellness Center on the west side of town.

Schwickerath says construction will begin as soon as conditions warrant next spring with completion in 2024, which will bring closure to a project started in 2016.
