Renovations for the emergency and radiology departments at Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) in Charles City were highlighted during a public Open House Thursday (11.09).
FCMC CEO Dawnette Willis says the ER now has a dedicated outdoor public entrance as well as a new triage room. A new MRI machine has been installed INSIDE the radiology department so patients no longer have to go to a mobile unit out in the parking lot.
Willis says the improvements will greatly enhance patient care while also providing a morale lift to hospital staff.
With those upgrades completed, with FCMC switches focus to construction of a new three-story rural health clinic.
Construction was targeted to begin next April, but Willis says that date is likely to move.
Willis adds that the new clinic will also offer ample parking space.
