Three Arrested in Northeast Iowa Assault Investigation

Three suspects are in custody following a northeast Iowa investigation into a violent assault almost two weeks ago.
The Waukon Police Department says officers responded to a report of an assault at 91 Joann Road in Waukon on November 16th. The suspects fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. Arrest warrants for the three subjects were issued last Wednesday (November 22) and all three were apprehended on Monday (11.27).
Arrested are 25-year-old Mason Frick, 25-year-old Colton Vasa, and 24-year-old Carl Johnson, all from Waukon. Each has been charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony; going armed with intent, a Class D felony; and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaints, the three men are accused of breaking into a male victim’s residence, with Frick allegedly attacking the man with a baseball bat while Vasa and Johnson wielded golf clubs. The victim required multiple staples in his head due to the injuries suffered in the assault. The suspects were identified by the victim and two other witnesses.
The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
