Third Suspect in Cerro Gordo, Floyd County Car Chase Pleads Guilty

A third suspect involved in a pursuit with law enforcement that ended in Floyd County has pleaded guilty for his role in the chase.

Mason City Police say 18-year-olds Larry Carthan of Mason City and Jordan Brown of Glenwood, Illinois, along with 20-year-old Antwine Wilson of East St. Louis, Illinois, burglarized a vehicle on South Pierce Avenue on September 7th. Investigators say one of them had a knife during the crime.  When officers encountered the suspects’ vehicle, Wilson was accused of leading authorities on a chase through Mason City reaching speeds of 130 miles an hour.

MCPD continued chasing the suspects until Nora Springs, handing the pursuit off to the Iowa State Patrol and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle crashed out near Rudd and the subjects were apprehended.

Originally charged with eluding and second-degree burglary with a dangerous weapon, Wilson has now pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact in a felony crime.  His sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2024, in Cerro Gordo County District Court.

Carthan previously pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary and was sentenced to one year on supervised probation.  Brown has also pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary and received two years of supervised probation.
