The Cresco Community Fire Department says it was called out to 729 2nd Street SW around 12:45 am Tuesday and arrived to find fire consuming the house and shed.  The Fire Department says the owners, John and LeeAnn Drilling and their five children, were not at home when the fire started.

No one was injured in this incident but the home, the shed, and their contents are considered a total loss.

The Cresco Police Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Department, Regional Health Services Ambulance, Protivin Volunteer Fire Department, Howard County EMA, Alliant Energy, Black Hills Emery, and Howard County Fire Dispatch assisted with this fire.

A benefit account has been established for the Drilling family at CUSB under “Drilling Family Benefit”. Donations can be dropped off at any of the bank’s seven branches.
