Final Days in Office for New Hampton Mayor Schwickerath

The lone, four-year term of New Hampton Mayor Bobby Schwickerath comes to a close with the end of the year.
Schwickerath was elected New Hampton’s Mayor in 2019 and took office in January of 2020, just months before the rise of COVID-19.
Among his accomplishments over the last four years, Schwickerath cites implementation of the recycling and trash bins, formulating a plan for replacing the City’s aging wastewater treatment plant, and the City’s role in getting the Chickasaw County ambulance service up and running.
Schwickerath also notes that the expansion of Little Sprouts daycare service and near-complete projects like Tribe Trail and Kindness Square Inclusive Playground have helped enhance the quality of life in New Hampton over the last four years.
Schwickerath’s bid for re-election fell short in November, when he finished second to former New Hampton Fire Chief Steve Geerts, who will take the Mayor’s office next week.
