Manhole Work to Disrupt Downtown Charles City Traffic Starting Tuesday (02.06)

Starting Tuesday (02.06), traffic in downtown Charles City could be disrupted for about two weeks.

Water and Street Superintendent Cory Spieker says the contractor for the Main Street Monoform Project will be working at the intersection of Main Street and Clark Street starting Tuesday.  Traffic in that area will be restricted and parking spaces leading up to the intersection will be blocked to allow traffic to flow around the work area.

When finished at Main and Clark, they will move to the intersections of Main and Riverside and Main and Blunt.

These closures are necessary for the contractor to rebuild the existing sanitary sewer manholes located at those intersections on Main Street.  The repairs will take approximately two weeks to complete.

During the project, traffic cones and barricades will be placed to direct traffic, but motorists are asked to avoid these areas if possible.
