14th Annual Charles City Rotary Auction Raises Over $7K

The 14th annual Charles City Rotary Radio Auction Saturday (02.03) raised over $7,000, with half of the proceeds benefiting Paws Humane Society.

That’s Rotarian Kay Winkelman, who says the phones were ringing off the hook from the start of the auction.

Winkelman adds that many of the 103 items up for bidding, donated by local businesses and/or rotarians themselves, sold well above their value.

The other half of the funds raised will go towards Rotary scholarships and regular Rotary community projects. A current project being supported in part by the Charles City Rotary Club is the planting of trees throughout the City, an effort to help replace some of the hundreds of dead or dying ash trees being removed due to Emerald Ash Borer disease.
