Osage Wrestlers Make Final Three Cut for Mr. Wrestler of the Year Award

A pair of Osage Green Devils are among the finalists for the Dan Gable Mr. Wrestler of the Year award.

In coordination with Fareway Stores, IAwrestle, and Iowa Corn, the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) will select a Mr. Wrestler in each of the state’s three high school classes for the men and a Ms. Wrestler from all combined classes for the women’s award.

After a committee initially selected 15 candidates in each category, the list was narrowed to seven in each category and now three wrestlers in each category have been invited to the awards ceremony on February 28th in Boone.

Making the final three for the Class 2A Mr. Wrestler award are Osage’s Tucker Stangel, who won his second state title last weekend, and Anders Kittleson, who claimed his first state crown.

Among the Ms. Wrestlers final three is Decorah’s Naomi Simon, who finished her high school career as Iowa’s first four-time girls state champion.

Charles City’s Lilly Luft was named Ms. Wrestler of the Year in 2023.
