Cresco Police Department Adding K9 Unit

A north Iowa law enforcement agency is looking to add a K9 unit to its fight against crime.

The Cresco Police Department is taking donations for its K-9 fund, with Sergeant Blake Welper to be the K-9 handler. Donations will be beneficial in obtaining not only the K-9 itself, but help to fund the many hours of training and time that Sergeant Welper and the K-9 will need to be successful.

A CPD Facebook post adds that, “A K-9 serves many purposes that would greatly benefit our community as well as add tools to our officers’ tool belts.”
