David Lee Jeffrey, the son of Kenneth and Fern (Kercheff) Jeffrey, was born on May 22, 1952, in Charles City and raised in Colwell on his family’s farm. David graduated from Charles City High School in 1970. He was united in marriage to Sheryl Johnson on June 26, 1971, in Charles City.

David worked for over 10 years as an auto mechanic and then in auto parts until he retired. He was the family “fix it man” and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed carpentry, automotive restoration and customization, and participating in car shows. He loved spending time in nature, especially camping and cooking on a campfire. Most of all, David loved his family and sharing stories about his life.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Sheryl Jeffrey; daughters and sons-in-law: Melissa & Mike McCoy of Mason City, and Michelle & Kevin Delk of New York; grandchildren: Cody (Toby) McCoy of Mason City, and Casey (Shawn) King of Columbus, Indiana; great-grandchildren: Inara, Quinton, Freya, and Mikala; brother, Dan Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Nancy (Bryan) Boggess; and brother-in-law, Mark Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Fern Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Mitzi Putney; mother and father-in-law, Virginia and Laverne Johnson; and aunt, Jessie Kercheff.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
