Vehicle Stolen in Charles City Police Located in Iowa Falls

Five days after a vehicle was stolen in Charles City, it was located about 75 miles away.

Charles City Police (CCPD) say a 2001 Nissan Maxima, taken from the Kwik Star parking lot on Gilbert Street the morning of March 31st, was recovered in Iowa Falls last Friday (04.05).

Chief Hugh Anderson says the incident illustrates how quickly a vehicle can be driven away if left unattended and running, even for just a few minutes.

Anderson says CCPD has access to a nationwide database that helps law enforcement track down stolen vehicles.

CCPD has identified a man and a woman suspected of stealing the car, thanks to social media, which Anderson says came in handy after their investigation reached a dead end.

While arrest warrants have been issued for the two suspects, neither was in custody as of Tuesday (04.09). The vehicle has been returned to the owner.
