Brush in Charles City, Flush in New Hampton

Its “brush” in Charles City and “flush” in New Hampton this week.

Starting Monday, (05.13), the Charles City Street Department will make one pass through town to pick up brush. This is for brush only, not entire trees. Please place all branches near the curb in a pile.

Street Superintendent Cory Spieker also reminds Charles City residents that the Shaw Avenue Compost Site is open year round to dispose of branches and yard waste.

The next dates for brush pick up are the weeks of June 17th and October 14th.

Also starting Monday, the City of New Hampton will begin flushing hydrants, weather permitting. The process will start in the South part of town and will continue to the West, North and East sections of the city until all the hydrants are flushed.

When hydrants are flushed in your area, you may need to run water to clear your lines before using the water, especially before washing clothes.
