Heartland Days Begins Friday (06.07) Night in New Hampton

Heartland Days festivities begin Friday (06.07) night in New Hampton.

New Horizons Chamber Executive Director Liz Zweibohmer says the Heartland Days parade will begin at 6 PM, starting on South Walnut turning onto Main Street and then onto South Water Avenue.

Citizens are reminded there will be no parking on Main Street from 4:30 to 8 pm Friday because of the parade.

While the parade is downtown, the bulk of activities are in Mikkelson Park, where parking availability will be limited Friday night due to the New Hampton JV and varsity baseball games against Turkey Valley.  Carpooling is encouraged if possible and/or park on side streets nearby and walk in. Enter the park using the East Spring Street entrance.

With a New Hampton Police Department a bit shorthanded currently, Chickasaw County Sheriff Ryan Shawver says his department is ready for assistance as needed.

There will be a full day of activities Saturday in Mikkelson Park as part of Heartland Days, now in its 30th year.
