Butler County Fair Begins Five-Day Run Wednesday

It’s the 2024 Butler County Fair Wednesday (06.19) through Sunday (06.23)  in Allison with a theme of “Building Our Future.”.

Fair Board member Derek Prostine says this year’s fair marks the debut of the brand new multi-species livestock building.

Prostine notes that the ages of the previous buildings necessitated the new facility.

The new structure is named the Fred and Wava Maifeld and Family Memorial Livestock Building, thanks to the family’s $300,000 contribution, one of many public donations that made it a reality.

Grandstand entertainment is highlighted by the live country music concert with Sammy Kershaw Saturday night.

Festivities got underway Tuesday (06.18) evening with a parade on the fairgrounds followed by the crowning of the fair queen, Erika Brinkman of Greene.

Her court is Miss Clarksville, Addy Johnson as the 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up is Miss Shell Rock, Karissa Oldenburger, and Ada Switzer from Parkersburg was named Miss Congeniality. Lindy Klahsen has been named the first “Little Miss Butler County.”
