
Carroll- It was a donnybrook like expected, and the New Hampton Chickasaws came away with a 7-3 win over the Sumner-Fredericksburg-Tripoli Cougars in the semi-finals of the 2A state baseball tournament.
The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Jaxon Willems’ double drove in Caden Trainor. New Hampton rallied back with a 7 run bottom of the third to take a 7-1 lead. The Cougars continued to fight when they scored two more runs in the top of the 4th inning. Braden McShane entered the game to close it out for the Chickasaws throwing 4.0 innings, striking out 4 batters and giving up no runs.
The Cougars close their season 24-5. The Chickasaws advance to the state title game to be played tomorrow at 2:30pm. We’ll have coverage right here on 95.1 The Bull with pregame starting around 2:00pm.
