New Hampton to Play for Class 2A State Baseball Crown Friday (07.26)

The top two seeds will play for the Iowa Class 2A State Baseball Championship Friday (07.26) in Carroll.
Second-seeded New Hampton advanced to the title game with a 7-3 semifinals win Thursday (07.25) night over Sumner-Fredericksburg.
Chickasaws Head Coach Cory McDonald says Chickasaw County was well-represented.
New Hampton scored all seven of their runs in the third inning, with six different players driving in a run. Jaxson Eckley went 3-for-3 and Reid Rausch had two hits for the Chickasaws, who improved to 29-6.
Eckley and Braden McShane split pitching duties to limit Sumner-Fred to four hits, half by Jaymison Howard, as the Cougars finish at 24-5.
McDonald hopes for a strong Chickasaws contingency for Friday afternoon’s title game against top-seeded Underwood.
Underwood advanced Thursday with an 8-7 win over Chariton, which jumped to an early lead with five runs in the top of the first. The Eagles battled back to tie the game at seven before scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to improve to 29-2.
You can hear Friday’s game on 95.1 The Bull with coverage starting at 2:15 pm and first pitch at 2:30 pm.
