Charles City Swimming Pool Repairs to Begin After Season ends
About $800,000 in repairs and upgrades to the Lions Field swimming pool in Charles City could begin in about a month.
City Administrator Steve Diers says about $650,000 will go towards the infrastructure to extend the life of the pool.
Diers say the winning bid for the project came in around $569,000.
Diers admits most of the work to be done on the pool will be unseen, but plans do call for at least one new amenity.
Diers says work will begin later this summer after the pool season ends and continue into the fall as weather allows. “Substantial” completion of the project is expected by next April and May to allow for the pool to be open for the summer of 2025, with the remaining work to be closed out after that.
