Construction First Closes Rotunda, Now Gift Shop at Floyd County Medical Center

Due to construction as part of a $40 million hospital/clinic expansion and remodel, the gift shop at Floyd County Medical (FCMC) has been temporarily closed as of  Thursday (08.01). It’s expected to reopen at its new location between Admissions and the Specialty Clinic on Thursday, August 8.

That comes after the first major change brought on by the construction meant the permanent closing of the previous main entrance/rotunda at the Charles City hospital this past Monday (07.29).

FCMC Community Engagement and Foundation Director Makenzie McNeil says that also resulted in the opening of a new parking lot for patients.

The ER entrance can also be used to drop off limited mobility patients, while McNeil says FCMC asks for patience from the public throughout construction.

To access the new parking lot, turn off South Main Street and go west 13th Street, then turn left into the new lot. A map is included below.

The expansion and remodeling project is targeted for completion in Spring 2026.
