Lynne Schwartzkopf, 68, Charles City

Lynne Schwartzkopf, 68, of Charles City, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at home with her husband by her side.

A memorial service for Lynne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Intern Beth Hurt from Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the funeral home on Saturday. A luncheon will follow the service at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa.

Lynne Marion (Grant) Schwartzkopf, the daughter of Lloyd and Jane (Dunlevy) Grant, was born on September 23, 1955, in Waukegan, Illinois. Lynne had a very loving and generous heart. Her family and friends were the most important to her and she loved spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Lynne lived in various locations growing up as her father worked for NASA along with the United States Army. Lynne’s family eventually landed in San Diego, California where she would meet her husband and begin their family. In 1991, Lynne and her family moved to Charles City, Iowa.

Throughout the years, Lynne worked several manufacturing jobs where she accumulated many coworkers who became family.

Lynne had a love of sharing music that meant a lot to her. She wouldn’t miss a Pentatonix concert within a five-hour drive with her granddaughters. Lynne had a passion for animals and sharing to help find their owners or new homes. She loved Christmas and all that came from it. She would bring games for all to play while requiring all to wear matching Christmas PJ’s. There was never a school play, concert, sporting event, fair event, or family gathering that Lynne wouldn’t attend.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Schwartzkopf; daughter, Jesi (Jamie) Carolan; son, Lee (Shelby) Schwartzkopf; grandchildren: Kristyn (Tony) Rodriguez, Kaitlyn (Shaun) Morris, Madi (Lally) Pellymonter, Trevor Carolan and Colton Crane; great-grandchildren: Leo and Eli Morris; brother-in-law, Mark Schwartzkopf, sisters-in-law: Sarah (Denny) Nixt, Julie (John) Sivill; along with many nieces and nephews. Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
