North Iowa 15-Year-Old Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash

A North Iowa teenager was killed in a two-vehicle crash near the Mason City Municipal Airport Monday (08.05) afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the wreck occurred shortly before 2:30 pm. A Subaru Outback, driven by 15-year-old Jannali Bear-Don’t-Walk of Clear Lake, was northbound on Hickory Avenue when it collided with a southbound GMC 3500, driven by 50-year-old John Furst, also of Clear Lake.

The crash report says Bear-Don’t-Walk apparently lost control of the Outback and crossed the centerline into the path of Furst’s vehicle. Bear-Dont-Walk and a passenger, 16-year-old Aali Martinez, also of Clear Lake, were injured and taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

The ISP says Bear-Don’t-Walk died from crash injuries.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Clear Lake Police Department, Clear Lake Fire/EMS, Mason City Fire Department, and Mercy Air Med also assisted with crash, which remains under investigation.
