Intermittent Closures on Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing to Resume Thursday (08.08)

Intermittent closures on the current Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing will resume on Thursday (08.08).

The Iowa DOT says the temporary closures were delayed by high river levels in June. Intermittent closures of up to two hours will occur on the existing bridge between the hours of 9 am to 3 pm to reduce vibration from construction activity and traffic, limiting the chance of damage occurring.

Weather permitting, the closures will be done by Friday, August 16. The DOT adds they will provide updates on the Lansing Bridge Facebook page with the approximate closure time a day in advance.

There will not be any closures this Friday (08.09) in respect of the annual Lansing Fish Days celebration.

Meanwhile, construction crews will continue work on the new Black Hawk Bridge with a new pier and driving the pier foundation.
